The most common mistake we see is choosing by looks and finding out later it does not fit. Our sofa store in Auckland is part of the widerfurniture shop in Aucklandat Unit 12/46 Hobill Avenue, Wiri.
Every sofa we list carries its real width, depth and height, so the fit is answerable before you leave home. The spread is wide: a Kyoto two seater is 168 cm, a Grace three seater is 222 cm, and a Gotto corner runs 296 cm along both walls.
Three numbers to bring.Your wall length, your narrowest doorway, and the depth of the space you want it to sit in. Depth is the one people forget.
Fabric matters too. It stays comfortable year-round in a way leather does not — it will not go cold in winter or sticky in summer — and a good performance fabric handles daily family life well.

Couch or sofa — the word changes depending on where you grew up, and we answer to both. What matters more is the width. Our range runs from a 126 cm Grace armchair through to a 296 cm Gotto corner, across 30 sofas and 37 lounge suites. 2 Seater Sofa
A two seater is the answer for apartments, townhouse lounges and second living rooms where a three seater would block the walkway. Ours are genuinely compact: the Kyoto 2 Seater is 168 cm wide and the Kelson 2 Seater Recliner is 140 cm. Both sit under a metre deep, which matters as much as width when the sofa has to clear a hallway corner. See our2 seater sofas.

3 Seater Sofa
The three seater is the standard family lounge size and where most people start. Widths in our range run from 193 cm for the Kelson 3 Seater Recliner up to 222 cm for the Grace. That 29 cm gap is often the difference between fitting a wall and not, so measure before you fall for a fabric. Depths sit between 93 cm and 98 cm. See our 3 seater sofas.

Modular Sofa
A modular lets you build the shape around the room rather than the other way round, and re-shape it later if you move. The Orlando comes as a five piece set. The Teddy is built from separate modules — a left arm module at 1070 mm wide, a right arm and chaise at 1640 mm, plus armless modules between. Modules can be added, removed or recoloured, though customisation takes 10 to 12 weeks. See our modular sofas.

Recliner Sofa
Recliners need clearance behind them, so measure out from the wall as well as along it. Our Kelson recliners stand 980 mm at the back and drop to 500 mm at the seat, in a 140 cm two seater and a 193 cm three seater. Sofa Set
A sofa set matches everything in one purchase and usually costs less than buying the pieces separately. Ours come in the common configurations: 3+1+1, 3+2+1 and 3+2. Corner Sofa
A corner sofa uses the corner properly instead of wasting it, which is why open-plan rooms suit them so well. The Gotto Corner runs 296 cm along both walls and 104 cm deep, with a seat height of 42 cm — low enough to matter if anyone in the house finds it hard to get up. 1 · Measure the doorway, not just the room
A sofa that fits the wall can still fail at the front door or the turn at the top of the stairs. Measure the tightest point on the route in.
2 · Depth is the forgotten number
Our sofas run 93 cm to 104 cm deep. In a narrow lounge, 10 cm of depth changes how much walking space you have left.
3 · Check the seat height
The Gotto sits at 42 cm. Lower seats look relaxed and are harder to get out of. Sit down and stand up before you decide.
4 · Recliners need room behind
Measure out from the wall as well as along it, and open the action fully in store rather than guessing.
5 · Think about fabric honestly

6 · Add up the whole suite
